Name: Vanessa Lin
Age: 14
Who is your favourite athlete or sportsman/woman of all time and why?: I have many favourite athletes and sportsmen/women such as Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, and Serena Williams. I think they are my top favourite athletes of all time because they all had a wonderful performance during three different time eras.
Why do you/we need opponents to make you/us better?: We have opponents to make us better for 2 main reasons. The first reason why we need opponents is to have their skill as a reference for us to reflect our skills to0. Another reason why we need opponents to make us better is to always have someone to beat, even if we were on top there are always someone that will catch up. In the end it’s not always having an opponent that makes us better, it is always important that every time you practice your sport that you do your best and beat your own record.
Who do you think is the greatest player/athlete/participant in our sport and why?: I think that Rickie Fowler is a great player because he has a great consistency, he was the number one ranked amateur golfer in the world for 37 weeks.
When you were at training last time what did you think was the best activity you did with your coach and and why?: I think think that the best activity that I did last time at training was when I was balancing on the exercise ball! I think this was the best activity because I’m working on my balance and also working my stabilizers in my hip that aren’t always being used everyday. If I were to add resistance that would also be a bonus because I would be working out my shoulders/arms while balancing the ball. PLUS IT’S FUN!
What is your favourite exercise or exercises and why?: My favourite exercise is definitely push-ups. I like push-ups because they work most of my upper body (abs, triceps, shoulders, etc). and also push-ups will improve my muscular endurance in my upper body.
How can you learn a new skill? How can you learn to be a better player/performer?: I can a new skill by practicing that specific skill at least 3-4 times a week or even modifying that skill, then working towards the real skill. I can learn how to be a better play/performer by not letting my opponents get to me and totally being focused on what I’m doing and not something else.
When not playing your favourite sport, what other activity or activities do you enjoy?: When I’m not playing my favourite sport (Golf) I love playing many other sports such as basketball, volleyball and many more!
